“First-Hand Exposure to our Industry”

IMG_83042.jpgYes, Ackerman-Estvold offers internships-great ones at that! If you’re looking to expand your engineering knowledge, gain real-life experience, and get paid to do it, Ackerman-Estvold may be the right fit for you!  Each summer we welcome a group of students ranging from high school graduates all the way through their college career.  Interns work side-by-side with our engineers and contractors while primarily overseeing the construction of projects.  You may get your hands dirty, but we keep the soap stocked and the water hot.  Internships typically run from May through mid- August.

Intern Manifestos

“Over the summers interning, I have learned how vital an internship is. It’s an eye opener to what your career will be.  In my opinion, I have learned more over my summers interning than I have throughout college because of the real-life, hands on experience they offer.  The working environment at Ackerman-Estvold is great as everyone is willing to help you learn and grow.”
Nathan Amick, Civil Engineer (5 year intern at Ackerman-Estvold)
2014 Graduate of North Dakota State University
“I started my experience at Ackerman-Estvold by job shadowing in December of 2012 and went on to intern after graduating high school.  My internship was a great experience all around!  I learned so much about engineering and construction throughout the summer.  My usual day consisted of a construction meeting in the morning, a little bit of project paperwork, and then I headed out to the field to inspect the contractor’s work, take quantities and help survey beginning and end points.  I would highly recommend doing an internship and can’t wait to come back again next summer!”
Emma Keller, 2nd year intern at Ackerman-Estvold
Sophomore at Williston State College

"Being part of the team at Ackerman-Estvold was a great life experience. I felt that I was learning more and more every day while I worked out on the site. I was able to get great real world engineering experience by reading the plans and then aiding in the process of making the plans a reality. I was able to experience great camaraderie with my fellow interns and my superiors, and I was able to learn a lot from them."
