New Town Truck Reliever Route - New Town, ND
Tags: bypassndNew Towntruck reliever route
This project began in 2006 when the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) requested the completion of a Corridor Study of Highway 23, within the city limits, through the City of New Town. The request was prompted by the significant increase in traffic due to the oil activity in the region. This study was conducted by Ackerman-Estvold and was completed in 2008.
Following the Corridor Study, Ackerman-Estvold submitted an application on behalf of the City of New Town requesting funding assistance for the Preliminary Engineering for a Main Street project. During this time it became apparent that not only did the city need to address the Main Street concerns, but it also needed to consider options to re-route the increasing truck traffic around the city. City of New Town officials, in conjunction with Ackerman-Estvold, independently researched and confirmed the necessity of a bypass around the City of New Town, in addition to the proposed improvements to New Town Main Street.
Ackerman-Estvold completed the final design stages of the Truck Reliever Route and is currently conducting preliminary engineering and design for the Main Street Project.  We are anticipating that the Bypass project will be completed in 2014 and the Main Street project will be completed in 2015.
