Ackerman-Estvold is a full service architectural and civil engineering consulting firm serving clients throughout North Dakota, Montana and Idaho. Project expertise ranges from initial planning to closeout and every step in between. Our exceptional team is composed of highly experienced individuals with a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of architecture and civil engineering.
The company was founded in Minot, ND, in 2003 as a civil engineering firm by partners Alan Estvold, Rolly Ackerman, Ryan Ackerman, and Jeff McElwain, out of a deep desire to serve the residents of their hometowns in northwestern North Dakota. Over the years the company has grown into the well-respected organization that it is today.
In 2013, Ackerman-Estvold expanded locations and service offerings by merging with AmeriTech Engineering Corporation, a civil engineering firm located in Williston, ND, and their partner firm ABC Building Concepts, LLC, a Williston based architectural firm. In 2018, Ackerman-Estvold expanded it's presence beyond the state's borders to serve the Boise, Idaho area. In 2020, Ackerman-Estvold merged with longtime Minot based architecture firm Anderson Wade & Whitty, PC adding several architectural team members and 40 years of architectural work throughout North Dakota. A Fargo location was added to the geographical mix at the end of 2020 in order to serve all of North Dakota's residents.
Ackerman-Estvold’s current staff encompasses a wide range of professionals within the Minot, Williston, Fargo, Boise, and Ackerman Surveying offices. Our team includes civil engineering staff members, registered engineers, registered architects, architectural design staff, construction inspectors, GIS specialists, drone pilots, financial specialists, communications specialists, administrative staff members, and professional land surveyors.

RYAN ACKERMAN, PE
Ryan Ackerman is experienced in project management, design and construction engineering, and land surveying. Ryan's technical expertise and passion lies in the area of water resources. Most notably, Ryan has led the Ackerman-Estvold team members involved in the large scale Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project while also serving as the local public communications spokesperson, all to help his community and the communities he serves, recover from the devastating 2011 flood. Ryan leads the organization as President and CEO.

STEVE EBERLE, PE
Steve Eberle is well versed in the field of design and construction engineering, Steve started his career as a Project Engineer and advanced himself to the role of Project Manager and now serves as both Chief Operations Officer and Principal in Charge of numerous projects. Steve has significant experience with municipal projects, including large-scale transportation projects, stormwater management plans, grading, water and sewer, and street improvement plans for numerous residential subdivisions and site development projects.

Sean Weeks possesses decades of civil engineering experience, including nine years of operating his own firm in Florida. Sean joined Ackerman-Estvold in January of 2011 as a Project Manager. His specialty lies in the area of land development for private clients. Sean also has been integral in guiding our municipal clients in their growth management plans during the growth and decline cycles that northwestern North Dakota has experienced.

TIM ARENS, PE
Tim Arens provides years of civil engineering experience, specializing in transportation and construction. Following his graduation from North Dakota State University in 2003, Tim began his career at the Missouri Department of Transportation working in the traffic and construction divisions. Since joining Ackerman-Estvold in 2011, Tim has led the transportation team in the design and construction of several large roadway and bridge projects throughout western North Dakota. Tim lives in Fargo and leads the efforts in that location.

PATRICK SAMSON, PE
Patrick Samson has vast civil engineering experience, with a focus on land development and municipal engineering. He began his civil engineering career in 2001 after graduating from the University of North Dakota. Patrick spent 10 years working in Chicago and Wisconsin before returning to North Dakota in 2012 to join the Ackerman-Estvold team. Since arriving in Minot, Patrick has been involved in a number of critical development projects to help grow the region including several residential developments; schools and school additions; along with capital improvement planning and infrastructure design.

RYAN ANDERSON, AIA
Ryan Anderson has a plethora of architecture industry experience in Minot and the surrounding communities. Growing up just outside of Minot he learned the construction trade and turned that into a career as an Architect. A graduate of North Dakota State University in 2003, Ryan currently serves as Senior Architect and as Vice President, leading and managing the architecture team. Ryan's portfolio of work varies from new structures to remodels and additions, small scale to large scale projects, and includes many types of buildings whether commercial, education, religious, offices, aquatic, industrial, and everything in between. Ryan is licensed in five states including North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, and Idaho and is a member of American Institute of Architects.

rolly Ackerman, PLS
Rolly Ackerman serves as Vice President of Ackerman-Estvold and has nearly 50 years of experience conducting land and construction surveying in the area. Rolly also serves as the President of Ackerman Surveying & Associates, Inc., which he founded in 1982. Rolly's leadership and involvement with the planning and construction of numerous projects has been crucial to the growth and development of northwestern North Dakota. In 2003, the ND Society of Professional Land Surveyors recognized his efforts by awarding him their Surveying Excellence Award.

ANTONIO CONTI, PE, PLS
Antonio Conti is a civil engineer with 28 years of experience and leads the firm’s operations in Idaho. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Management Engineering from the Univeristy of Rome, in Rome, Italy. His focus is in engineer design, site development, and surveying, and serves as an engineering contact for many small cities in Idaho. He has his PE licenses in ND, UT, CA, and OR along with his Professional Land Surveying license in many states.

PAUL KRAMER
Paul Kramer is a Senior Designer in our architecture group with over 30 years of experience in a large variety of projects, project management, and client relations. Paul has a deep knowledge of the industry and has created contacts and connections within the construction field because of his collaborative work style, which are key when working with dozens of partners on a project. Paul has worked on a multitude of projects from municipal design on parks, zoos, and public school design to multi-use facilities, large gathering spaces, and many keys projects in the region.

BRENT BURGARD
Brent Burgard has 14 years of finance experience and serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Ackerman-Estvold. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Minot State University. Brent has filled multiple roles within the organization, since starting in 2015, assisting with IT and Human Resources to fill voids as the company has had transitions. Brent manages the administration function of the company, also leading the finance and investment direction for the organization.

AARON FORNSHELL, PE
Aaron Fornshell is a civil engineer with 14 years of experience in project management, design, serving as a regional city consultant on water, wastewater, and construction project management. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of North Dakota in 2009. Aaron has extensive knowledge with complex construction projects has been critical in the role he serves related to flood mitigation projects, which have great impacts to the whole Souris River Basin in central North Dakota.
